Yes, as well as snacking, there is an extra treat list that can be added. Please see full details in your W8 for life programme guide.
Sugar free gum, Coke Zero and even a glass of wine are on the treat list as well as other things.
Wine increases the thermogenic response and can increase fat burning, but keep to the amount allowed each week due to the fat content.
Yes they can, they are a healthy snack for kids, and a great replacment from the high sugar, high fat snacks.
They offer an extra 12g of high quality protein per bar.

You can definitely burn fat without being in ketosis. Once you create a daily energy deficit, the body will draw on fat stores for fuel because that is the physiological reason for the fat stores in the first place, to provide stores of energy for times of 'famine' (or in the case of pregnancy, to store up reserves of energy to allow for lactation). A little glycogen will be used but not much, the 'set point' tries to preserve glycogen for immediate requirements.
Yes, all the food lists and the detailed plan is in the Programme Guide, you cannot start without this as the books contain your food lists and important information for you to follow.
Simple - they give great flexibility for meals and food plans
Plenty of choice to mix and match foods.
Anything on the Add A Meal list can be halved in portion size and used as a snack. Anything on the snack list can be doubled and used as a main portion.
So lets look at some examples that can be done with this:- (some limited items can only be used once a day)
Example - A main meal includes 1 x tablespoon of carrots - if you use these raw and grated, you can have half a tablespoon as a snack. Or you could have grated carrot 1 x tablespoon on a salad as a main meal.
Example - You could halve the main meal portion of chicken, so 2 oz chicken and take as a snack, along with salad.
Example - you could have as a snack - 2 oz cottage cheese (not the full portion of 4 oz) and add a small salad on the side, or take with a small fruit. This makes a healthy snack.
Example - Why not make a small fruit salad as a healthy late afternoon snack
Example - Why not mash your Advocado (half), add some spices and turn into a lovely dip, if you use this over two days, then half each day turns into a great snack, with celery sticks.
Example - Another snack could be a few olives from the main list, add some low fat cheese. Another healthy snack.
Plenty of things can be done, and remember as long as it is sensible food choices, then no damage can be done to the programme.
Important things to remember:-
If you are using proteins as a snack, halve the portion size to 2 oz.
Unlimited foods can be used to go along with snacks, just make the portion small.
Limited vegetables/fruits - please use these only once a day
Fruits - please keep to the portion recommended as fruits are higher in sugars, although the ones on the list are the lowest, it is important not to consume more than the recommended intake as a snack.
Try to ensure you use all the foods groups and don't get stuck using just a few items.
W8 for Life programme guide is Step 1 and is the initial weight loss phase of this plan and has a restricted list of acceptable foods, developed to give maximum weight loss in this first phase.
Step 2 - Maintenance Control - providing an overall healthy eating plan, that can be adopted long-term. Lots of tips, food swaps based upon simply GI, keeping bad carbohydrate intake low, fat low, saturated fats low, maintaining 5-a-day, good hydration and portion control. Each client must purchase the MC book from you at £6.95 and one Mealpak per day is optional.
Maintenance Control gives clients a solid platform of information for them to build their own healthy plan for long-term healthy eating. Essential for keeping the weight off.
5 a day means a combined total of 5 a day of fruits and vegetables, not 5 of each.
Please visit the NHS 5 a day link and you will see what equates to a portion, a portion = 1 of the 5 a day. Also this is in our Programme Guide.
You will see that items on our food lists, many of them qualify as one of the five a day
Here are some examples for you:-
Mushrooms, peppers, onions, what you would normally add to a pizza topping is classed as 1 of your portions
3 slices of tinned peaches = 1 portion
Celery sticks (3) = 1 portion
Most of our listed fruits = 1 portion
Half grapefruit = 1 portion
2 broccoli spears = 1 portion so 4 spears = 2 portions
8 florets of cauliflower = 1 portion
4 tablespoons of cabbage = 1 portion
3 Mixed tablespoons of sweetcorn, carrots, turnip = 1 portion
So it is very easy for you to follow our food lists and maintain 5 a day. Here is the good news:- 5 A day has been put together, not for kcal purposes, but to ensure you receive all your vitamins and nutrients. Mealpaks 2 per day will provide a guaranteed 50% of this already, before we start on the 5 a day. So W8 for Life overall offers a really healthy solid platform for weight loss.
The food diary will assist all clients eating the 5 a day and also for consultants to check this is being done on a daily basis.
Also remember we are asking for 3/4 of the main dinner plate to be taken as a combination of vegetables, so we can easily achieve 3 of the 5 a day portions in this one meal, before we even get onto healthy snacks.
If you fall short, some tips, just add a portion of mushrooms to your food mealpak, this will then give another 1 of the 5 per day.
Add strawberries to the strawberry Mealpaks = this will give you another 1 of the 5 a day.
Protein is important and vital to the success of the program, the protein comes from 2 mealpaks 22g, 1 protein meal 23g, half pint skimmed milk, high protein snacks, high protein All About W8 Snack Bars.
We recommend 8 large glasses of water per day.
Consumed throughout the day, not all in one go!
Start in the morning and consume steadily all through the day and evening.
Our other All About W8 programmes give the client real focus on changing their eating habits and if clients choose these programmes they need the support of the journal and the weekly tasks to keep them focused and help their relationship with food.
For the W8 for Life programme, the food diary is full of eating habit tips and 8 weekly tasks.
At least 16 and under 80 years of age when starting the programme.
- Replace two main meals per day with Mealpaks
- 3 healthy snacks per day (from an approved snack list) or an All About W8 Snack Bar, this will keep blood sugar balanced throughout the day. The bars also offer extra high quality protein which will speed up fat burning.
- One healthy high protein meal from the Add A Meal list
- The food lists will provide you with the government guidelines of 5 fruit and vegetables per day. Our list of proteins, fruit and vegetables are also based on low carbohydrates and low GI, and many offer extra quality protein such as nuts and cheese.
In summary - Low Kcal, Low GI, Low Carb, which will produce great weight loss results.
You can join W8 for Life if your BMI is 22 or above. When it drops to 20, you will be switched to the Maintenance Control programme.
To get started you will purchase the W8 for Life Starter Box. This retails at £29.99 and will give you all you need to get started on the plan.
Inside there will be :-
1 Welcome letter
14 Mealpaks of your choice
1 FREE Snack Bar
1 FREE Mealpak
1 Programme Guide
1 Food Diary
After this each additional weekly 14 Mealpaks cost £24.50 and you have an option of purchasing Snack Bars online or through Consultants at £1.95 each.
You can make up your own daily plan, using the foods from the list. On average this will give an approx 1200 kcal plan, however this is only approximate, you need to maintain portion control and keep to the list, also it is subject to slight variation depending on what you choose.
No matter what, if the calories are slightly higher, fat burning and weight loss will still occur (as carbohyrdates are low) if you are not choosing the correct plans and not reaching 5 a day - you can review your food diary - then we can offer advice on this.
Please always write everything down in your food diary so your consultant can advise you.
Cheating or lowering the daily kcal even further WILL NOT achieve faster weight loss!
Half a pint of skimmed milk per day for tea and coffee, or for mixing in with shakes. This adds important additional proteins and MUST be taken.

On diets with about 50/100 g protein and 100g fully available carbohydrate, ketosis may occur but is very marginal.
Moderate ketosis can occur with diets containing 50 - 100 g available carbohydrate. By fully available, I mean those carbohydrates which are fully hydrolyzed in the small intestine to give absorbable glucose and fructose. (net carbs). Carbohydrates such as maltitol (in your bars) are not fully available and therefore are not classed as net carbs.
My initial impression is that all All About W8 programmes will result in very mild ketosis, however the fat burning will be thermogenic in W8 for Life and you may see higher results than any ketogenic programme, see notes on high protein diets.
